A septic backup usually means the system is full, blocked or failing, and wastewater can surface in toilets, drains or the yard instead of draining as it should. Septic waste is contaminated, so a backup creates the same health concerns as a municipal sewer backup, with the added risk of the problem continuing until the system itself is serviced.
Septic backup cleanup in San Diego, CA focuses on the damage in the building and on the property: removing the waste, disposing of contaminated materials, and disinfecting and drying the affected areas. Pumping the tank or repairing the system is a separate job for a septic professional, so cleanup is typically coordinated with that work to keep the backup from returning.
Warning signs usually build up before a septic backup. Slow drains throughout the house, gurgling pipes, wet or unusually green patches over the drain field, and strong odors around the tank or yard can all point to a system that is full or failing. Reducing water use in the meantime, such as laundry and long showers, can slow the problem while you arrange for the system to be serviced.
Septic systems are regulated differently from city sewers. Repairs, tank pumping and any work on the drain field generally need a septic professional, and local health departments often have rules about septic repairs and disposal. A cleanup team in San Diego, CA can handle the contaminated areas in your building and yard, and your septic contractor can address the system itself.
